Finding solitude behind closed palms

This sculpture is a raw exploration of internalized trauma and the sanctuary of darkness. The exaggerated hand covering the eyes acts as a desperate barrier against an intrusive reality, symbolizing the inmate's struggle to find privacy and peace within a space of constant observation. The coarse, stone-like texture suggests that this grief has become a permanent, fossilized part of the artist's identity. It is a powerful statement on the suffocation of the soul, where the act of "not seeing" becomes the only form of self-preservation left.
